# Smarty's Origins

The inspiration for Smarty struck me while I felt overwhelmed in school.

Even though I was on top of my academics, the anxiety from all of the extraneous life tasks that kept popping up weighed me down. 

At that point in the semester, I needed to:

\- Book flights home for Thanksgiving\
\- Work on end-of-semester projects\
\- Juggle the 5 clubs I was president of\
\- Figure out my life and career post-graduation

As the action items built up, they became more daunting. The chaos in my mind disproportionately clogged up my brain with unnecessary stress. I needed a better plan to execute on these very achievable tasks. 

My entire career at that point had been in enterprise productivity, helping people be more efficient at work using effective software and AI. I knew that existing technology could easily automate over 25% of my workload.

That was a major realization – I decided then and there that I would build a software solution for myself.
